Thursday 21st November

Learn everything you need to know to make your own eco-friendly soap! With ingredients you can easily buy from the supermarket, and equipment you can find in your kitchen! This time it will be a Christmas special using festive ingredients such as cinnamon!

Once you've made your own bar of soap on the night,  you'll come to pick it up the following week (as the soap will take a week to set).

The session will be lead by David Press who is a formulation scientist with a passion for the environment. You will get a fact sheet with all the information you need to go home and make your own soap!

David Press is a retired Industrial Chemist who now concentrates on making fine quality soap from natural ingredients. He applies his extensive experience and knowledge of Chemistry and Chemical Processing in the production of soap and soap-related products.

During his research into homemade "craft" soaps he found that some soap makers were not aware that making soap is all down to a scientific reaction. Many prepare soaps that do not comply with the scientific rigour of a good manufacturing procedure. His course attempts to address this issue, but makes soap making totally accessible for anybody.

The course he gives is easy to follow and is based on the idea that if you can bake a cake, you can make soap.

As a matter of personal choice all the ingredients are vegetarian, and responsibly sourced. No Palm oils or Palm oil products and not tested on animals.
